WE LIVE IN EXPONENTIAL TIMES
I teach 8th grade resource room math and a gifted and talented program called MAXTAP. I have seen the above video several times and every time I see it I am reminded how fast technology is moving. Math content hasn't change but at the special education level it is important to find as many tools as possible to assist my students to meet their needs. MAXTAP is a program for academically gifted and talented students in grades seven and eight. Through an awareness of different learning styles and an emphasis on creative problem solving, divergent thinking and higher order thinking skills, MAXTAP provides for the special needs of these students. Experiences are provided which help in decision making, conflict resolution, values clarification, teamwork, and awareness of self and others. MAXTAP units provide the opportunity for in-depth study with an emphasis on the process of research and development. Units include robotics, forensic science, visual communication, engineering, physiology, global communication, and environmental awareness to mention a few.
This wiki will follow my journey through integrating technology into the classroom.
